ATTORNEY & FOUNDER
OF PROVIDER LEGAL

Matt Stevens

One of Matt’s first jobs out of law school was to be the in-house counsel for a specialty practice undergoing a multi-million dollar fraud investigation with criminal and civil penalties. After guiding that organization he went on to in-house positions in the alcohol and drug rehab space and large multi-clinic organizations.

Having seen how easily providers can be exploited, Matt created Provider Legal to advocate for and protect healthcare practitioners who work within a complex and ever changing system. He intimately understands what they are up against and how important their role is in our health system.

The other integral tenet of Provider Legal was borne out of Matt’s frustration with the outdated system of hourly billing and bloated invoicing – which is why Provider Legal is an exclusively flat fee and subscription law firm.

Matt’s favourite compliment from clients is that he doesn’t seem like a lawyer, but a real person. He enjoys sci-fi movies, reading historical fiction and is an Australian gin aficionado.

Attorney

Benjamin graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University’s Honors Program before attending Vanderbilt Law School. At Vanderbilt, he was on the Dean’s List, received Phi Delta Phi honors, and worked for the American Health Law Association. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and published an article titled “Defining ‘Referral’ in the Anti-Kickback Statute” for the American Bar Association.

Benjamin daydreams about finding the perfect cup of miso soup and being able to paint like his favorite artists – Mark Rothko and Henri Matisse. He loves pampering his cat, Valerie, and will share stories about her antics to anyone who will listen.

When not at work, John can typically be found chasing his toddler around the house or reluctantly going on long walks in the neighborhood.
